Hair Mascara?!

If you color your hair frequently with a solid color and can't stand how fast your roots pop up try hair mascara. They sell them at most public beauty supply stores and they come in all shades of brown to black. You simply put it on with a wand-quite like mascara-to keep your roots looking colored...it works especially well for people with gray hair. It will help expand the time between touch ups!

Haircut Savings

Want to stop spending so much on hair cuts so often? Buy a pair of thinning shears..sold at Sally's or even check Wal Mart....they are hair cutting scissors that are a normal blade on one side then the other side looks more like teeth. These take out only a few pieces of hair each cut.

Try it out first on a place no one will notice to get a hang of it. Then take it to your head-thin places that are growing too much or do it slightly in your bangs to make them last longer.

Always cut diagonally to your head-never horizontally to your hair line.

It won't get rid of all dead ends but it can help it last weeks longer and sometimes even add a new look to an old drabby style.

New to You!

Ok, I know some people think that shopping at thrift stores and garage sales is a little gross - for lack of a better word. BUT, I on the other hand think it is fantastic! Not only are the prices super awesome, but you can find some of the greatest stuff! I love thrift stores especially for clothing and accessories. I like wearing things that are a little "old fashioned," and therefore, thrift stores suite my fancy perfectly. The dress section is my favorite. I probably have 5 or 6 dresses that I absolutely LOVE from the 70's, and 80's that were awesome thrift store finds. My most recent purchase is this silver/black dress in the photo below. I'll admit, it's a little wacky but I wore it to my cousin's wedding and got so many fun compliments!

The trick to thrift shopping is PATIENCE. You have to look through a lot of "blah" to find the really great treasures!

You can even get gifts for great prices at a thrift store. I bought this really great scarf (below) for my brother's birthday and his girlfriend liked it so much she convinced him to share it with her. :)

We all know that styles come and go and come back again, and that is another reason why thrift shopping is so great. You can find some really great vintage pieces or vintage looking pieces at a thrift store for A FRACTION of the price! You might have noticed lots of super neon colors in fashion lately and so I must point out this pink shirt in the photo below. I found it at a garage sale about two years ago. The picture doesn't even do it justice, it is sooo bright. AND it is vintage Ralph Lauren Polo. I think it is my favorite article of clothing of all time. I also have some super cool vintage looking jewelry and sunglasses that I have found at thrift stores. Oh, and belts are a GREAT thing to buy used. I have seen some of the funkiest belts at the thrift store and then seen some that look almost identical in stores like Charlotte Russe and Forever 21.

One more great reason to go to the thrift store is HALLOWEEN! I know October is still like 3 months out, BUT it doesn't hurt to start thinking and shopping ahead! I found the most fantastic hippie dress at the thrift store a while back. I always want to wear it for real, but I think I might just have to save it for Halloween... it's a little "out there".

Anyway, I think it's apparent that I LOVE thrift stores! I encourage anyone who is reading this to check out your local thrift store next time you feel the need to shop and remember to be patient! Seriously go through each dress or shirt or whatever and look for cool fabrics, or funky styles (you can always whip out your sewing machine and give it a new modern look! -- that is, IF you have one, and know how to sew...)
